Gameday Talent Tryouts at UConn

UConn Athletics to Host Gameday Talent Tryouts

The UConn Division of Athletics is proud to announce a "Talent Tryout" for individuals in the Connecticut and greater New England area interested in making their mark on the fantastic gameday atmosphere and fan experience at UConn athletic events. The tryout is scheduled for two dates this month – Wednesday, August 15 (4 p.m. - 7 p.m.) and Thursday, August 16 (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.) – both of which will be hosted in Gampel Pavilion on campus in Storrs. We are searching for: Energetic in-game hosts, national anthem singers, DJ's, music operators, and basketball halftime entertainment performers. Interested groups and individuals will need to apply by filling out the application form in the link below. In-game hosts, singers, and halftime performers will be invited to the tryout and DJ's & music operators will complete an online form. https://uconnhuski.es/TalentTryout In-Game HostsThe UConn Huskies are searching for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to be the face of the gameday experience and potentially includes Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, and Men's Hockey. These positions will be an extremely important part of the entertainment and fan experience at our home venues through crowd engagement, hype, promotions, and assisting with creative ideas to maximize the fan experience. This position will supplement the efforts of public address announcers.  National Anthem SingersThe UConn Huskies are searching for individual or groups to perform the nation anthem prior to many of the home athletic events throughout the year. It is preferred if the whole performance is no longer than 1 minute and 45 seconds. UConn will be able to provide tickets to anthem singers (subject to compliance review). DJ's and Music OperatorsThe UConn Huskies are searching for individuals to assist with the overall music audio operations.  Music operators desired have previous experience working sporting or athletic events, specifically having an understanding of the game flow and critical times to apply particular music and audio cues to maximize fan participation, reaction and response as well as impact the home field/court advantage.  DJ's are desired to provide a different aspect to the gameday atmosphere than the music operator, generally targeting the student engagement aspect of the overall gameday experience.  Any prior experience with other athletic organizations is a plus. Interested individuals for both the music operator and DJ roles are asked to complete the application form including the supplemental form at the link above and will not try out in person unless contacted. Basketball Halftime PerformersThe UConn Huskies are searching for individuals and groups interested in performing during halftime at both Men's and Women's Basketball games in Gampel Pavilion in Storrs and the XL Center in Hartford. Each performance has a maximum time of 7-8 minutes. UConn will be able to provide tickets and parking to performing groups (subject to compliance review) but lodging and transportation costs will not be provided.
