TROPICS: Another Record

Josephine is forecast to remain a tropical storm for a few days before petering out into a tropical depression. Its forecast track keeps it away from the Caribbean and U.S., though it could find its way to Bermuda before it dissipates completely. (Accuweather)

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • An area of low pressure moving off of North Carolina could become Tropical Storm Kyle in the next few days. That would be another record.
  • With all of these storms, we've actually been pretty lucky. Isaias did some damage to the East Coast, but nothing like Sandy did in 2012.
  • Even without an imminent threat, it's never a bad idea to buy some jugs of water, non-perishable food and fresh batteries.

Tropical Storm Josephine is unlikely to cause any real problems, but it nonetheless has made history.

When it formed today (Thursday), it marked the earliest the 10th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season has ever achieved tropical storm status. The previous record was set in 2005, when Tropical Storm Jose formed on August 22nd.
