We spoke with Andrea Pecoriello, co-founder and executive director of Sweet Pea Bakery, about their nonprofit in Norwalk, Connecticut, that employs adults with developmental disabilities.
The bakery, founded in 2019, offers a 12-week training program and currently employs 12 individuals. They are known for their colossal cookies, sold at Yankee Stadium and soon at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater. Despite high production costs, they rely on community support and donations to break even. Popular flavors include chocolate chip, sweet and salty, and cookie butter. They also offer specialty boxes and a new crumb cake product.
