Adult Beginners Pickleball Class Offered at the Mortensen Community Center
The Newington Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce a new adult beginners pickleball class that will run on Fridays from April 14, 2023 through June 2, 2023. The class will run from 12:00 pm- 1:30 pm. Every class will take place at the brand-new refinished Mortensen Community Center Gymnasium which has 8 pickleball courts. This class is perfect for individuals who have never played pickleball before, or for those who want to brush up on their skills.
Pickleball is a fun and easy-to-learn sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It is played on a smaller court with a lower net, a paddle and a plastic ball. The sport is becoming increasingly popular among adults because it is low-impact, easy on the joints, and a great way to socialize.
The class will have an instructor who will teach the basic skills and strategies of pickleball with an emphasis on having fun. Participants will learn how to serve, return, volley, and score points. They will also get the opportunity to practice with other beginners and gain confidence in their game.
The cost for the adult beginners pickleball class is $100 for residents and $110 for non-Newington residents. Registration is required, and all spaces are limited.
