CT Legislators Discuss Proposal to Lower Prescription Drug Prices

AN ACT PROMOTING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS, HEALTH CARE COVERAGE, TRANSPARENCY IN HEALTH CARE COSTS, HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE PERSONS AND RIGHTS REGARDING GENDER IDENTITY AND EXPRESSION.

To promote transparency in health care and prescription drug costs, expand access to affordable prescription drugs, integrate community health workers and social workers into delivery of health care and home and community-based services, expand the Covered Connecticut health care program, connect uninsured persons with coverage and protect rights regarding gender identity and expression.

Ayesha R. Clarke, MSW, MPH, the Interim Executive Director of Health Equity Solutions in Connecticut, testified in favor of the proposal.

"This is truly a high-reward policy both in terms of fiscal impact and improved health, health equity, and quality of life for Connecticut’s people." said Ms. Clarke
